Old Carpentry Tools

After entering this field, I am thrilled to upload my first asset as part of my portfolio. My objective was to create something small yet distinctive, something that finds utility in our daily lives. I extensively researched references for modelling and texturing, which led me to the idea of creating old and used carpentry tools. To create a realistic asset, it was crucial to understand how each object appeared from different perspectives and how light would affect their materials. This journey of discovery presented various challenges, especially since this was my first project in Photoshop. It required a significant amount of time to comprehend where to apply which texture, and to understand the varying degrees of roughness and metallic properties at different times.
My mentor, Supriyo Sir, played a pivotal role in helping me understand the roughness and metallic values for each material. He guided me through the entire workflow process, including unwrapping and organizing the UV layout in a compact manner.
To bring the whole effect from references, I had to collect a lot of references. I endeavoured to texture each part beautifully, finding it particularly interesting to create the wooden parts. All the tools were modelled in Maya, and all maps (base colour, roughness, metallic, bump) were created in Photoshop. I want to achieve realistic renders with the help of Arnold Renderer, and the light setup was done inside Maya. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to my mentor, Supriyo Sir, and my academy, MAYAKUL, https://www.artstation.com/supriyo
His guidance helped me present the project more precisely and perfectly. His support was invaluable in this journey of creating my first digital asset.
